Description

Starry Night diamond painting turns van Gogh's 1889 canvas into a grid of drills. He painted it from the window of his room at the asylum in Saint-Rémy, added a village that was never there, and sold none of it in his lifetime. The swirls above the cypress are what people recognise from across a room.

Those swirls are also the reason this one takes longer than its size suggests. The sky is confetti work — short runs of blue, teal and grey that change every few drills, unlike the wide colour blocks in the wheat fields and sunflowers among our other Van Gogh diamond art kits. The village and the cypress go quickly by comparison, so most people leave the sky for last rather than start with it.

Best on a wall where it can be seen from a few metres back — the swirling reads as motion at distance and as individual drills up close.
